What it is
Rewiring replaces a property's electrical installation — cabling, consumer unit, sockets, switches and lighting circuits. Whether it's a full rewire of an older property or a part-rewire as part of a renovation, we plan it to cause minimum disruption.
Who legally needs it
Properties over 25–30 years old that haven't been rewired often need it for safety and to meet modern demand. It's also standard during major refurbishments, extensions, and when an EICR flags the installation as unsatisfactory.

Signs a property needs rewiring
- Frequent tripping of circuit breakers or blown fuses

- An EICR that grades the installation unsatisfactory
Most installations last 25 to 30 years. If a property has not been rewired in that time it is worth a professional assessment. If you are planning a major refurbishment, extension or loft conversion, rewiring is almost always part of the job — running new cables while walls are open is far easier and cheaper than going back later.
Full or partial rewire
A full rewire replaces the entire installation — all cabling, the consumer unit, sockets, switches and lighting circuits. It is the right choice for older properties, major renovations, or where an EICR has found widespread problems.
A partial rewire covers specific circuits or areas — a new kitchen circuit, a dated consumer unit, or a single floor. We assess what is actually needed and give you an honest recommendation rather than defaulting to the bigger job.

Rewiring — your questions answered
How long does a full rewire take?
A typical two or three bedroom house usually takes several working days. Larger properties, or those with awkward access or complex requirements, take longer — we confirm a realistic schedule at the survey rather than guessing over the phone.
Do I need to move out during the rewire?
Not necessarily. Many customers stay in the property, though you will need to work around the power being off in each room as it is rewired. We agree a plan that works for you before we start.
Is rewiring covered by building regulations?
Yes. As a Part P registered installer we self-certify the work and issue an Electrical Installation Certificate, so you do not need a separate building control inspection.
Can you rewire around a tenanted property?
A part rewire can often be staged around occupancy. A full rewire is usually best done between tenancies — we can work to a void period and have the certificate ready before the next tenant moves in.
